Aaron Welcher believes trust is built long before a message is delivered.

Trust is built in community spaces, around coalition tables, through difficult conversations, and by listening before speaking. It grows when people recognize themselves in one another's stories.

This belief has guided Aaron's work for more than a decade.

His career began in community advocacy, where communications was never just about messaging—it was about bringing people together. Before leading communications departments and advising executive teams, Aaron worked in Jewish advocacy and community relations during the first Trump administration. There, he witnessed both the strengths and limitations of institutional leadership. The experience reinforced his belief that advancing one community should never come at the expense of another, and that meaningful leadership requires authentic relationships, shared power, and the willingness to challenge systems from both within and beyond organizations.

Today, Aaron is a strategic communications leader and public relations expert who helps organizations build public trust through communications strategy, coalition building, and community-centered storytelling. As the first Director of Communications at the ACLU of Utah, he built the affiliate's inaugural communications department, led crisis and litigation communications, advised executive leadership, and translated complex legal and policy issues into stories that informed, inspired, and mobilized communities.

Throughout his career, Aaron has built communications departments from the ground up, founded cross-sector coalitions, advised executive leaders, cultivated trusted relationships with journalists, and brought together unlikely partners around shared goals. Whether leading statewide advocacy campaigns or navigating moments of crisis, his work is guided by a simple principle: the strongest communications strategies are built with people—not simply delivered to them.

For Aaron, public relations is ultimately about building public trust. He believes communication is most powerful when it helps people see themselves in one another's stories—because understanding one another is where trust begins.
